Graham and Luzzi become FERMA vice-presidents

The board of the Federation of European Risk Management Associations (FERMA) has elected two new vice-presidents at its meeting in Brussels yesterday (Wed). They are former Airmic chairman Julia Graham, Chief Risk Officer of law firm DLA Piper, and Jorge Luzzi, Group Risk Management Director of Pirelli Group.

The FERMA general assembly, held the same day, had previously elected three new directors: Julia Graham, Günter Schlicht, who is Executive Director of the German risk management association DVS, and Tamer Saka, Chief Risk Officer of the Turkish conglomerate Sabanci Holding.

Graham was chair of Airmic in 2008-2009 and she is member of Airmic Council and the executive committee. She has been active in many UK risk management activities, and she chaired the British Standards Institution (BSI) committee which published the British standard for risk management BS31100. Graham is already involved with FERMA as a member of the committee organising the 2011 FERMA Forum.

Jorge Luzzi is an active member of the Italian Risk Management association, ANRA. Before joining Pirelli, Jorge Luzzi worked for a number of companies, including Deutsche Bank, Marsh & McLennan and Ciba Geigy (Novartis). His career has taken him to Switzerland, Spain, Argentina, Brazil, Bermuda, Ireland and Italy. In addition to his FERMA responsibilities, Luzzi is serving as chairman of the International Federation of Risk and Insurance Management Associations (IFRIMA).

Directors

The Turkish risk management association ERMA became a member of FERMA in October 2009. Tamer Saka is its president and FERMA's first Turkish director. While a faculty member at Istanbul University's Faculty of Business Management, Saka also worked as a risk management and control process improvement consultant. He then spent time as a risk management consultant with two international firms, before joining Sabanci Holding in 2004.

Günter Schlicht is executive director and member of the board of DVS. He is retiring from these positions, which he has held, since 1993 on 30 June, but will continue to manage various DVS activities until 30 September, at which point he will take on risk management and insurance functions.
